THE ITALIAN DOLOMITES 2012
Tre Cima, Sesto Dolomites. Oct 2011A new addition for summer 2012 is the wonderful and spectacular Dolomites in the northern area of Italy. Amazing rock spires and pinnacles abound in this part of the Alps but there is a wealth of fine paths into the mountains with no need for rock climbing skills! Gary will be leading treks in two areas of The Dolomites, the Val Gardena in the west and the Sesto mountain range in the northeast. With an option of valley based trips or hut to hut tours there is something to suit everyones walking holiday tasts.
VAL GARDENA, WESTERN DOLOMITES
Above the Vallunga, Gardena June 2011We base ourselves in the village of Selva for this week long holiday. Selva is around two and a half hours transfer from Verona airport, four hours from Bergamo (Milan) Aiport. There are other airports including Innsbruck, Salzburg or Vienna of around the same transfer time. The village has many hotels of a high standard and all meals will be included in the cost. There are many walks direct from the village and also an excellent network of local transport including chairlifts.

Langkofel. Gardena June 2011There are beautiful meadows and forests aswell as the striking rock towers and pinnacles in The Dolomites. Early summer is a fantastic time for the Alpine flowers.
Sas Rigais, Odle Nature reserve. Gardena June 2011The amazing rock spires in the Nature Park at Puez-Odle. There is a chairlift that can quickly get us up to over 2000m and a network of wonderful paths to admire the mountains. With the excellent network of buses and chairlifts we have the luxury of starting and finishing the walks in different places.
