THE HAUTE ROUTE 2012

Haute Route, Grand Combin behind. July 2007

This 2 week trek links the famous Alpine resorts of Chamonix to Zermatt passing along  the way soaring glaciated peaks of Mont Blanc, Grand Combin, Weisshorn and The Matterhorn to name but a few. High cols and remote valleys along the way. Most nights spent at hotels in villages with two nights at lodgings in mountain refuges with all mod cons in wild, high locations. This is the walkers variation on the glaciated original Haute Route.

Price: £1000 for 14 nights including accommodation, guide and transport from Geneva airport.

Dates on demand, minimum group size 6

Above Verbier, Mont Blanc range behind, July 2007

High above Verbier after the first night at a mountain refuge. Mont Blanc range in the background. Starting high up gives fabulous clarity of morning light. This section of the trek stays high for two days, never dropping below 2200m as we walk over three cols to the next evenings mountain refuge.

Eidelweiss July 2007

Probably the most famous flower in the world! Edelweiss is quite rare but we know where all the best places to find it!

High up, close by glacial terrain, July 2007

Even at the height of summer there is permanent snow above 2500m. This section of the trek passes right next to the snout of a glacier, it's a wonderfully wild and desolate place, a rarity in The Alps

The Matterhorn, August 2007

The final day and a superb approach to Zermatt with the ever present Matterhorn in front of us all the way along.
