BEN NEVIS GUIDED WALKS 2012
Ben Nevis from An Garbhanach, September 2010
At 1344m above sea level, Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the UK and is a huge lure for many visitors to Scotland. A popular mountain for obvious reasons but it's ascent, even by the easiest route, should not be under estimated. A guided ascent with Tarmachan Mountaineering will be one full of interesting history, geology, fauna and flora as well as guiding you safely to the top and back! I walk at a sensible pace to suit the group with plenty of rest stops along the way. The youngest person to summit has been 9 yrs old and the eldest 82 yrs old!
Tarmachan Mountaineering is based in Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis and therefore I know the mountain and area extremely well.
As well has my guided ascents I am often out walking or climbing on Ben Nevis in my free time so you can be assured you will get lots of vital information prior to booking with us. I have made countless ascents and know the mountain intimately, including what weather conditions you can expect on the mountain and current snow conditions in Spring, Autumn and Winter.
There are two main walking routes on offer. THE CARN MOR DEARG ARETE or THE MOUNTAIN PATH route.
If you are feeling more adventurous and would like to discover other more interesting, remoter routes and quieter ways to the top of Britain then have a look at the ADVENTEROUS ROUTES page.
I guide on Ben Nevis all year round. Winter on 'The Ben' can be spectacular and Alpine like, the winters' of 2010 and 2011 have been very spectacular with many cloudless days and an excellent cover of snow, even to low levels for long periods. For full details of: GUIDED WINTER ASCENT
The two options to book your guided ascent are:
- As a private individual or small group
- As part of a group of individuals with a maximum group size of six.
Having a rest before the summit. April 2010Even in April there is still plenty of snow on Ben Nevis. Is it winter or is it summer?
